All Four WVC Warrior Sports Named to NJCAA All-Academic Team

Mt. Carmel ,IL-  The Wabash Valley College Athletic Department recently received word from the NJCAA that, for the first time in school history, all 4 Warrior sports were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Team.  This list is tabulated by comparing team GPA’s, from all 3 divisions of the 323 NJCAA member schools, during the 2015-2016 school year.

The Warrior Basketball Team had the 17th highest Basketball Team GPA in the Nation, and was 1 of just 2 NJCAA schools from the state of Illinois to make the list.  (Kaskaskia).

The Warrior Baseball Team came in at #57 on the list of Baseball Teams, while Women’s Basketball ranked 58th.  The Warrior Softball Team was #61 on the list of Softball Team GPA’s, but had the highest Team GPA at WVC with a 3.29 cumulative GPA.

WVC Athletic Director Mike Carpenter said, “We’re extremely proud of our student athletes.  They did a tremendous job last school year, and we appreciate the WVC faculty and staff for facilitating their development with such a positive learning environment.  Our coaches deserve credit too – they spend countless hours, supervising study tables, and emphasizing the importance of graduating from WVC.”

The 2016-17 school year starts on August 18, and the Softball and Baseball Teams begin Fall games in September.  Basketball Season will start on November 1st.
